Description
The subjects at Derrywood comprise two separate dwellings, a traditional granite dwellinghouse referred to as Derrywood to the front of the site, and a separate wooden cottage (Derrywood Cottage) located at the rear. Standing in mature gardens its secluded position set back from the road ensures a wonderful degree of privacy and solitude, and is the perfect spot to enjoy the rural idyll, but with the benefit of a village and its amenities nearby.
Derrywood is a charming traditional granite dwellinghouse, built circa 1913, and situated on the outskirts of Braemar, in the heart of the Highlands and Cairngorm National Park. Sitting on an elevated position overlooking the River Clunie, the property commands spectacular views and a peaceful rural setting, with a backdrop of heather-clad mountains, and a frontage which sees red squirrels, red deer and roe deer on a regular basis. Spanning two floors, the property provides deceptively spacious and versatile accommodation with attractive period details including original pitch pine woodwork and panelled doors, panelling around the windows, picture and dado rails, bay windows, and open fireplaces in some rooms. The property has a distinctive and unique charm, an unrivalled position in a relaxing setting, and the advantage of a separate cottage within the grounds.
Derrywood Cottage is also unique in its character, and ideal for holiday rental, additional family accommodation, or for those seeking a studio or additional space to work from home. In former times, the family lived in the cottage during the summer, and in the main house during the winter. Derrywood Cottage is a detached wooden building with pitched roof. It has two rooms on the ground floor as well as a kitchen and shower room with separate toilet, and two bedrooms upstairs. All interior pitch pine doors are stripped and waxed and it has an open fire with back boiler.

The garden has a summer house, and enjoys open uninterrupted views of the River Clunie and the rolling hills beyond.
